The singer John Legend recently appeared on the The Late Late Show With James Corden where he divulged some funny incidents that he has gone through with his children that leave him embarrassed.
The singer is a father of three children with his wife Chrissy Teigen. His oldest is his daughter Luna born in 2016 and his son Miles was born in 2018. The couple welcomed their third child Esti just a few months ago. Esti’s birth came after the couple lost their last pregnancy which was a very heartbreaking moment in their lives that they shared publicly.
Legend shared how his children request their father’s music to be played in the morning when he drops them off to school. The singer said, “They do, especially my son. He knows all my songs and he’s like Rain Man with the lengths of the songs. He remembers how long each song is and he’s like, ‘Actually ‘Green Light’ is a little longer than this one, it’s 3:19.
The singer said how embarrassing it is for him to be blaring his music as he drops his kids to school. The school his children attend is also attended by other celebrity children like Jay-Z and Beyonce’s offspring. The singer said, “I’m pulling up, playing my music loud and it’s embarrassing,” he added. “No, [JAY-Z]’s not playing ‘Reasonable Doubt’ in the car with his kids — I don’t think, I don’t hear it at least!”
The couple recently opened up about their daughter’s name. Teigen said, “We were on vacation. We got married in Italy and I was looking up at the hotel and I kept seeing the Este of it, and then I was like, ‘I love the name Este,’” Teigen recalled. “I was just playing around with it and then we came up with Esti.”
But now they found a familial connection. She said, “John, after we named her Esti, learned that it was actually his great-grandmother’s name,” Teigen revealed. “… I guess maybe it was Esther and then they turned it to Esti.”
