It was a blustery afternoon by the rocky shores when a shepherd noticed one of his young lambs missing. The wind was strong, and the waves crashed fiercely against the shoreline. He felt a pit form in his stomach, knowing how treacherous the cliffs could be for a young, unsteady lamb.
Without wasting a moment, he followed the coastline, scanning for any sign of his missing lamb. Suddenly, a small bleat pierced through the roaring of the sea. There it was—just barely clinging to a slippery rock, dangerously close to the water. The lamb had likely wandered too close to the edge and slipped down.

Desperate to save it, the shepherd lay on his stomach, inching closer to the edge. His friend, who had come along to help search, held onto him tightly to prevent him from falling in. It was a precarious position, but the shepherd’s hand stretched further, the lamb just out of reach. The cold water splashed against his face, and for a moment, he feared the worst.
But then, in a stroke of luck, his fingers caught onto the lamb’s fur. Gripping tightly, he pulled the struggling animal closer. With his friend’s help, they lifted the soaking lamb out of the water and onto the safety of solid ground.
The shepherd’s face showed relief and pride as he held the trembling lamb in his arms. He cradled it, knowing that the little creature had just narrowly escaped a dire fate. The lamb nuzzled into his chest, exhausted but safe.
The two men smiled, feeling victorious over the harsh forces of nature. After a moment to catch their breath, they headed back to the fields. The lamb would rejoin the flock, and the story of its rescue would be one they’d recount for years to come.
